Kylie Santoro Horrell "Miss" Kylie
Kylie is thrilled to be living out her dream as she officially opened STRIVE Performing Arts Center’s doors in October 2017 and is now finishing her fourth season in business! Kylie has always been passionate about sharing her experiences, education, and knowledge with young, aspiring artists. Kylie believes she offers something valuable and priceless to her students that sets Strive Performing Arts Center apart from the rest; her seventeen plus years of education in the industry, her prestigious four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theater from Wright State University, and her seven years, and counting, professional career in the industry! She has trained and worked along side some of the industries top educators and choreographers, and she continues to train, educate herself and pursue her passion for performing to give her students the most current, competitive, and high-level training and opportunities available to them. Kylie is dedicated to the youth of the Pittsburgh area and it has always been her goal to bring the performing arts culture and experience to the valley. Her work is held in high esteem due to her expert eye for technique and attention to detail in the classroom, her ability to bring out the beauty, confidence, and God-given talents in each of her students and her innate and cutting-edge artistic vision, artistry, and unique choreography.
Some of Kylie's impressive credentials include, extensive training in ballet, jazz, lyrical/contemporary, modern, tap, musical theater dance styles, voice, music and acting. Her education and training credentials include Shirley Dean School of Dance, Pittsburgh Youth Ballet & Point Park College's summer intensive programs, as well as, private voice and acting lessons. She was accepted into and offered talent scholarships from multiple Universities’ Performing Arts Conservatories, but ultimately accepted Wright State University's offer into their prestigious program. Over the years, Kylie has performed in many professional musicals, plays, cabarets, showcases, TV shows and commercials. The last seven years she has taught and choreographed several styles of dance as well as taught various performing arts classes in the Pittsburgh area. Kylie is also very active in the community and church and values the opportunity to be apart of it. She is humbled and honored to be a part of the worship team at her church and to be given the opportunity to use her gifts and talents for God’s glory. She is looking forward to building and growing the performing arts within the church community-a lot of exciting things to come! Kylie's vision and goals for STRIVE's future is something you will want to experience and be a part of. Her passion and love for her art is truly undeniable and contagious!
Cara is very excited to join the STRIVE family! She brings to STRIVE 20+ years in dance education and training. Cara began her training at the age of 3 under the instruction of Shirley Tater Dean where she studied in classical ballet, pointe, tap, and jazz. Cara fell in love with the art of dance and decided to continue pursuing her passion at the collegiate level. She is a 2015 graduate of Slippery Rock University where she earned her BA in dance. Cara had the honor of training under talented professors such as Ursula Payne, Nora Ambrosio, and many others. She continued furthering her education at the university earning her MS in Adapted Physical Activity in 2016.
Cara is a strong advocate for individuals with disabilities. She currently facilitates a transition program for high school students with disabilities to provide workforce readiness training. In the past, Cara has combined her two passions in life to bring Adaptive Dance to surrounding communities. Cara believes that dance should be offered and available to all individuals. Dance helps all students develop and expand motor skills, enhance communication, stimulate imagination, and promote creative learning in a safe environment. I look forward to teaching, creating, and learning with the STRIVE family this year!
